Welcome to the Homestead!

John and I hope everyone had a blessed and joyous Christmas.

You may have noticed a few photos similar to the one pictured above. John and I made the decision to move the week before Christmas. You read that correctly-the WEEK before Christmas.

So in that time, we readied for Christmas, had kids home, visited family, and moved. Porch Light has a new home and the wax melters have been fired up. Last weekend we were at Newbo City Market in Cedar Rapids, and boy, did it feel good to be back! Candles are also being restocked at the Clarinda Regional Medical Center gift shop, Meant To Be in DeWitt, and That Flippin’ Shed in Blairstown.

Beach Vibes, Lemonade Stand, Roses Are Red, Grapefruit Spritzer – do these sound intriguing? They are just a few of the fragrances that will be added to the website very soon. Keep a lookout. Wax melts, soaps, and room & linen sprays can also be poured with these and other wonderful fragrances.

There are so many things for me to learn about country living – I’m a city girl born and bred – but I love learning new home keeping tips and look forward to the simplicity and work of living on our little homestead. Pouring candles goes along with that. Originally they were poured for light. They were functional, not for decor. But the whole process of pouring can not be rushed. There’s a lot of “waiting” with candle pouring and it forces you to slow down and enjoy the process. When I say hand-poured in small batches, I mean it!

You all have a super week and remember to always trim your wick!
